Last night, Lil Wayne was honored at the 2023 BMI R&B/Hip-Hop Awards show, which took place at LIV nightclub in Miami, Florida.
The whole awards show on the evening celebrated 50-years of hip-hop and presented Wayne with an BMI Icon Award for what he has done for the genre.
Before Catherine Brewton (the BMI Vice President) presented Mr. Carter with the award, they played an introduction that included some clips of Weezy interviews that had gone viral on social media and a message from Nicki Minaj.
There were also live performances from Big Freedia, Bobby V who performed “Mrs. Officer“, NLE Choppa who performed Tunechi‘s “A Milli“, and a DJ set from Mannie Fresh who mixed classic Tune records together.
You can check out some footage of all this down below, as well as watch Lil Wayne‘s speech were he thanked his family and us fans. Congratulations Wayne!
