Birdman recently sat down with Jalen Rose on a yacht in Miami for a new episode of his “Renaissance Man” podcast, which you can watch in full below.
In their conversation, Baby discussed his inspirations, losing both of his parents at a young age, starting up Cash Money Records at 16-years-old, signing B.G. when he was 13-years-old, Mannie Fresh, the Big Tymers, the “#1 Stunna” nickname, where the name “Birdman” came from, artificial intelligence, sports, starting the “Bling Bling” era, his hip-hop career, and Pharrell putting together the “What Happened To That Boy” song.
The Cash Money Records co-founder also talked about Lil Wayne shooting himself by accident when he was writing a rap, revealed what moment he thinks changed Wayne‘s whole life, and recalled when the Young Money Records CEO first showed him Nicki Minaj and Drake.
Later on in the convo, Birdman mentioned that he signed Young Thug and created Rich Gang so that Tunechi could put his feet up and relax (just like how Tune did the same for him), but because Wayne has that “Kobe mentality”, he didn’t want to do that and instead wanted to “win all championships” and eat anyone up in front of him!
